Options for GP services in the Western wards of Fareham discussed with local residents
We need your views, that’s the message from Hampshire Local Involvement Network (LINk) as it discusses options for Locks Road Surgery with patients and local residents.
Following a request from Dr Whitaker and Partners’ to close their Locks Road Branch Surgery and consolidate services at their main surgery in Whiteley, NHS Hampshire has carried out a complete review of all NHS buildings in the local area. This review looked at the current standard of the buildings, any investment that may be needed, occupancy levels and the potential to further develop these buildings in the future and has been used to develop three options for patients who use Locks Road Surgery. These options are to allow Locks Road branch to close with patients choosing to either move to Whiteley or register with another local practice who provides services to their address and is open to new registrations; to allow Locks

Road branch to close and extend Brook Lane surgery to accommodate more patients from a wider area; or to establish a GP service in Fareham Community Hospital.
“NHS Hampshire has asked us to manage an independent engagement process about Locks Road and we are keen to hear the views of local patients and residents on the three options and what they value about local general practice services,” said Martin Cox from Hampshire LINk. “We will use all of the views given to produce a report which will be used by NHS Hampshire to make a decision on how to provide GP services to patients using Locks Road Surgery.”
